trawlr.com online rss agregator

Posted by Ben Sat, 29 Apr 2006 15:24:00 GMT

Announcing my first major Ruby on Rails project: www.trawlr.com an online rss agregator.

Unlike most rss feed readers (both online and offline clients) it shows the feed items as a river of news (items from all feeds are shown together). It also has feed tagging – for instance tagging your favourite feeds.

Web 2.0 Checklist

  • Ruby on Rails
  • AJAX
  • Pastel colours
  • Tagging

It’s still in an early phase (alpha) but I would love for people to try it out and let me know how it goes (although I can’t guarantee that the data won’t be destroyed during future development)!

Give it a whirl and let me know if you like it (it’s also completely free). It was created to have a play with Ruby on Rails and to scratch an itch that I personally had – reading the same rss feeds from multiple places (work & home) which is tricky with offline clients.

    Hi Ben,

I’ve been using Trawlr, the newest version, I like it. I’ve noticed it is not keeping current with some of my feeds (specifically the NYTimes feed)

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks,

    Brian

Thanks for taking the time to try out the site… the good news is that you aren’t doing anything wrong! I’ll take a look at why the updates are lagging behind, hopefully it’ll be a quick poke to make them behave better in future.

    Cheers,

    Ben
