href="http://www.facebook.com/">Facebook</a> the future of the internet? A tricky question to answer but I thought I&#8217;d jump straight in and create my first <a
href="http://apps.facebook.com/cheezburgernow/">Facebook application</a> using Ruby on Rails.</p><p>As seen in <a
href="http://www.slashdotdash.net/articles/2007/04/25/lolcats-meme">one of my previous blog posts</a> I&#8217;m a fan of <a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolcats">lolcat pictures</a> which gave me the perfect idea for a basic Facebook app. Display the latest lolcat pics from <a
href="http://icanhascheezburger.com/">icanhascheezburger.com</a> (<strong>the premier</strong> lolcat wesbite) and allow users to chose one to show on their Facebook profile.</p><p>I used the <a
href="http://rubyforge.org/projects/rfacebook/">rfacebook</a> Ruby gem to handle the heavy lifting required to ensure Facebook users are logged in and have added your application correctly. This meant that creating the actual application was quick and easy (just 265 <span
class="caps">LOC</span> reported by <code>rake stats</code>). A detailed guide to creating a Rails-based Facebook app will be the subject of another blog post.</p><p><a
