After months of speculation the <a href="http://www.apple.com/uk/pr/2007/09/180907_iphone.html">UK release of the iPhone was announced today</a> at a press meeting in the London Apple store (which I visited just last week). The <a href="http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone">iPhone is available from 02</a> here in the UK at a cost of £269 for the handset and a minimum £35 / month contract (for 18 months).</p> <p>The good news is that you get an <em>unlimited</em> data plan, the bad news is no 3G, which is a major draw-back. Just typing this on the phone now, after a bit of practice I reckon it could be quite speedy. I&#8217;ve already got the two handed typing going on and the auto correct works well.
